Over 20 years in the offshore financial services industry


Simon has spent over 20 years in the offshore financial services industry, including ten years as a partner in the investment funds group at Maples and Calder and Mourant Ozannes, two of the leading offshore law firms.

He has extensive experience of structuring hedge and private equity funds and of the legal and regulatory aspects of fund formation and operation, including liquidity and redemption issues and fund restructurings, particularly in distressed and contentious situations.

Simon has written and advised in depth on corporate governance and fiduciary issues and has spoken at conferences and seminars on issues relevant to offshore investment funds.

Simon is a graduate of St Catherine’s College, Oxford University. He qualified with McKenna & Co (now CMS) in 1992 and worked as a corporate lawyer in their London and Hong Kong offices before joining Maples and Calder in the Cayman Islands in 1996, becoming a partner in 2002. In 2011 he joined Mourant Ozannes where he was a partner for two years, based in their Jersey office, before moving into non-executive directorships in 2013.
